This Week was Intensive Interaction Week at CCL

Intensive Interaction is an approach to teach the fundamentals of communication to people who have severe learning difficulties and/or autism, who are still at an early stage of communication development.

Each day we have been promoting the benefits of Intensive Interaction through training, workshops and classroom sessions, to encourage regular use of intensive interaction. This ensures that all staff are confident and familiar with the techniques used, so that it is meaningful and fun for the young people we support.

Students from The Grafton Centre have been enjoying regular Intensive Interaction sessions. Red group had a lovely time out in the sunshine, with staff using the technique Tune in, Let the Person Lead, Be Responsive and Enjoy Yourself.

The week finished with everyone having a great afternoon at the Intensive Interaction themed Learner Café. Students enjoyed using the Intensive Interaction frame and props, with a highlight being lots of delicious themed cakes!
