Today (Friday 19th February) is International #CareDay2021.

Care Day is the world’s largest celebration of the rights of children and young people with care experience.

We thought we would take this opportunity to celebrate some of the young people who work in care at CCL.

Pictured is Ben with Paul. Ben is 18 and a Support Worker at our Wheatlands scheme. Ben is an exceptional carer, who takes pride in his role and shows remarkable initiative.
Ben talked to us about his job at CCL saying “I enjoy coming to work to support the residents in completing day-to-day tasks and achieving activities they enjoy. Throughout COVID, I have found it important to help residents keep in contact with their families and love seeing them happy when doing so. I find my job very rewarding, especially in current times!”.

Also pictured is Katie with Billy. Katie is 17 and works as a Support Worker at our Harley Road scheme. She is another exceptional example of a hardworking young person in Care. Katie takes on a quiet and calm approach. She said she loves her job and her favourite thing about working at CCL is the “Extra buzz I get when I have those special moments of interactions with the residents”.

Thank you to Ben, Katie, all children & young people worldwide who care for someone and all children in care.
