February 12th saw The Grafton Centre’s first sharing day of 2026. The weather was miserable, and the rain was pouring, but nothing could stop the warmth that was radiating from Grafton’s hall. Sharing day is an incredibly important day for our learners, as parents and friends come along to celebrate their achievements. It instils a great sense of pride within our learners and encourages them to keep working hard.

Orange Group presented pictures of their nature walks, proving that the miserable weather won’t put them off! Self-care was a big focus for them this term, combining morning makeovers with independence skills, with our learners also creating personalised labels for their self-care items. They had a lot of fun cooking, and over Christmas helped to harvest apples to make their own apple sauce – which one learner ate by the spoonful! For History week, they explored their family histories by looking at family trees to learn more about their beloved family members.

Green Group told us about their weekly routines, including their class roles! Each learner has a different role that makes them a valuable member of the classroom. On Mondays, the group goes to the Wingate centre to enjoy Rebound therapy and to try some new activities! The group have also spent a lot of time in the community, visiting the Ironworks and The Shrewsbury Museum. Along with visiting new places, their Friday afternoon Music Therapy sessions may be their favourite part of the week!

Purple Group welcomed six new members this term, as well as welcoming back one existing student. There was a big focus on Safety this term, both Personal and Fire safety, and they even had a trip to the local Fire Station for it! Everyone chose their internal work roles for the term and started working on their employability skills. Two learners developed their skills in technology, money recognition, counting and organising through working on The Honesty Trolley. Others chose to do office work, working through lists and using organisational skills. A hit with the learners, Recycling has been the choice of work experience for two of our learners, teaching them communication skills, as well as how to sort recyclable materials. Alongside this, students visited new environments such as Libraries and Shops, and the competitive sides of some learners were brought out for their Wednesday Sports and Games sessions!

Each group also talked through their involvement with creating art for their ‘Just Make A Mark’ exhibition at The Shrewsbury Museum. We had the pleasure of watching the video that is currently being presented alongside the artwork, and it brought some of the room to tears as the meaning behind their artwork shone through. It’s always incredibly special to see such a strong presentation of strength and creativity. To bring the successful event to an end, the sharing day ended with guests being treated to some homemade cakes, and our learners selling items they have made in their Enterprise Sessions.

We’d like to say a big well done to everyone, we can’t wait to see what’s to come next term!
